Favorita is an ancient native white grape variety from Piedmont, grown primarily in the Langhe and Roero regions. Considered by many to be a relative of the Ligurian Vermentino, over time it has developed its own distinct identity in the Piedmontese hills—one that is more delicate, fresh, and elegant.
The earliest records of Favorita date back to the 17th century, when it already appeared in historical documents of the region’s noble families under the dialect name “favurie.” Since then, this grape variety has continued to embody a tradition deeply rooted in the land and in Piedmontese viticulture.
The resulting wine is distinguished by its straw-yellow color with luminous highlights, floral and citrus aromas, and a freshness accompanied by a pleasant savory note. The finish may reveal the typical, slightly almondy note that characterizes the grape variety.
Our Favorita is called “farinella,” which in Piedmontese means “the sly one”: bright, light, always in the right place at the right time.
It is from this idea that the name of our wine was born: a pure, fresh, and immediate Favorita, capable of expressing the territory with spontaneity, balance, and simplicity.

Today, Favorita is one of the rarest native white grape varieties in Piedmont. It is grown in very limited areas, mainly between the Langhe and Roero regions, and for many years it was in danger of disappearing.
Over time, in fact, many producers have preferred more productive and easier-to-grow grape varieties, while Favorita has remained a delicate variety, deeply tied to the territory and particularly susceptible to vine diseases. It is precisely this fragility that has contributed to making it increasingly rare.
Today, a few wineries continue to showcase it with care and artisanal craftsmanship, preserving a historical and agricultural heritage that is part of the Piedmontese tradition. For us, producing Favorita means preserving the identity of the territory and ensuring the continuity of an authentic grape variety, capable of telling the story of the Monferrato hills through freshness, elegance, and simplicity.

According to a tradition passed down through the ages, the name Favorita is said to derive from the fact that this wine was particularly beloved by Queen Margherita of Savoy, becoming one of her “favorites.” This is said to be the origin of the name by which this wine is still known today in Piedmont.
Beyond the legend, Favorita embodies an elegant and convivial character, deeply rooted in the Piedmontese hills and the region’s rural traditions. It is a wine that speaks of simplicity, authenticity, and the pleasure of things made with care—just as has been the case for generations in small family-run wineries.
